Apple Unveils MLS Season Pass On Apple TV App Available Worldwide – Forbes


The new soccer season begins soon and Apple has just announced its MLS Season Pass. MLS (Major League Soccer) games will be available whether or not you’re an Apple TV+ subscriber, through Apple TV+ and the Apple TV app, which is on the iPhone, iPad Mac, Amazon Fire Stick, PlayStation, Xbox and plenty of smart TVs.

Nothing for Android viewers, then, apart from through a web browser at tv.apple.com.

Apple says the MLS Season Pass will be the home for all MLS and Leagues Cup matches. Not only are all the games to be found in the season pass but, unusually, Apple has the rights for more than 100 countries and regions. The pass offers every life regular-season match, playoffs and Leagues Cup. There are no blackouts.

There are additionally a number of games available free, from the Apple TV app, with no subscription required. These include all the games in the opening weekend, on Saturday, February 25. Which is a great way of finding out if it’s your thing. There will be a few more games in the early weeks of the season which are streamed for free, as well. Games are available on-demand as well as live and all are streamed in English and in Spanish, with separate crews for each. Games which involve Canadian sites also offer French commentary. The on-demand capability means you can join a game live or choose to watch from the start. There are also pre-game shows and a wrap-up that will end each night’s broadcasts. Not to mention hundreds of of MLS Next Pro and MLS Next games.

A range of MLS content, including dedicated club pages where you’ll be see live matches, match previews, interviews and replays will also be available.

You can subscribe to the Season Pass without being an Apple TV+ subscriber, though there’s a discount if you are. Anyone can buy the Season Pass for $14.99 a month or $99 a year, while Apple TV+ subscribers can enjoy a reduced price: $12.99 a month or $79 a year. In the U.K., pricing is £14.99 a month or £99 a year, with TV+ subscribers getting it for £12.99 a month, £99 a year.

If you use family sharing, these prices apply, meaning up to six family members can share using their own Apple ID and password.
