Apple restarted talks with OpenAI to add AI to iOS

It should be common knowledge now that Apple is going to incorporate artificial intelligence into its future iPhones and its future iOS updates; better late than never. Currently, the company is preparing to incorporate the technology, but there is one thing it has to do, and that is choose a company to partner with. According to a new report, Apple has renewed talks with OpenAI about incorporating its AI technology with future iPhones.

Previously, we heard rumors that Apple was looking to Google to incorporate its AI technology into the future iPhones. Along with that, it appears that Apple even has its eyes open to using another company’s AI. At the moment, Apple is working on its own AI models. However, it didn’t start working on its models until much later than Google, OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic, Etc. So, chances are that it’s very much half-baked at this point. As a result, Apple is reaching out to other companies.

Apple was in talks with OpenAI to incorporate its AI into iPhones

So, it’s obvious that Apple will probably have to act fast. The company is going to be launching the iPhone 16 in just a couple of months. We expect it to be sometime in September, so it’s less than half a year away. The company was previously in talks with OpenAI about incorporating ChatGPT into iOS 18. However, it appears that these talks started to cool after a while. According to a new report, talks between Apple and OpenAI have ramped up, so Google still has some competition.

We don’t know which company Apple is going to eventually settle on. However, we do know that whichever company Apple settles on will be getting a lot of money from this deal. Incorporating AI on a platform as large as iOS will be a boon for any company.

We expect to hear more about this news during the upcoming WWDC event. At the moment, Apple has not shared any details about what sort of features to expect from Apple’s AI. However, we can expect the typical slew of features including chat summary, text generation, translation, typing assistance, Etc.
