Apple may have partnered with Samsung for foldable displays

Well, the company may be five to six years late, but Apple is currently working on a foldable device. We’ve been following rumors for a while about the company either making a foldable iPad or a foldable iPhone over the next couple of years. According to a new report, Apple may have signed a deal with Samsung for its foldable displays.

Undoubtedly, Samsung is the largest foldable phone manufacturer in the world, and this is despite the intense competition from companies like Google, Oppo, OnePlus, Huawei, Vivo, Xiaomi, Tecno, Etc. Not only does make it the most popular foldable phones on the market but, the company also manufactures the displays in those phones. Samsung’s display business is one of the company’s main sources of income.

Apple may have partnered with Samsung to make foldable displays

Apple making a foldable iDevice was inevitable, especially with the pressure from the rest of the tech industry. The company partnering with Samsung was also inevitable. Not many other companies are able to make foldable OLED panels, and Samsung is one of the only companies that could help keep up with the high demand that Apple’s foldable will inevitably have. So, it is no surprise that Apple is tapping Samsung.

The source says that the companies are partnering “for the development of foldable devices.” This information comes from supply chain sources, so these are people close to the matter.

However, while Apple making a deal with Samsung is no mystery, the device that the companies are collaborating on is. We have no idea if Samsung is planning on making a foldable iPhone or a foldable iPad. Also, if Apple does make a foldable iPhone, we have no idea if it’s going to be a clamshell foldable or book-style foldable.

What we do know is that, since Apple took so long to finally pull the trigger on a foldable phone, it’s going to be a very high-quality product. The company spent years making sure that it’s “Apple Perfect”. So, we should expect to see this device with the same level of quality that we see with regular iPhones. We should expect to see Apple’s first foldable device within the next two years.
