Apple is reportedly working on new 11.1-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models for launch in early 2024, with both devices expected to feature OLED displays, according to reliable display analyst Ross Young (via MacRumors), who suggests that by shrinking the size of the bezels, Apple will be able to achieve the display size increase without an overall change in the size of the device.

Speaking with MacRumors, Young claims that Apple has scrapped plans to release a larger 14.1-inch iPad Pro, squashing his previous report earlier this year that suggested the new large-screen device could launch as soon as early 2023 and instead fuelling rumors that the iPad Pro lineup may not see any updates until the rumored new 11.1-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models release.

As it stands, Apple sells the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a mini-LED display, and the 11-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ with a traditional LCD display, with Apple keeping the mini-LED display technology exclusive to the largest model in the lineup.

It has been reported that Samsung Display is preparing to open an all-new production line for OLED iPad models.

In general, OLED displays offer a better viewing experience over LED thanks to several advantages in display quality including a larger color range and high contrast levels, better handling of darkness and lighting precision, and fast response times.

Despite not sharing any details about what other features the new 2024 OLED iPad Pro models could bring, Young has previously reported that the devices will have “two-stack” OLED displays with two red, green, and blue emission layers for increased brightness and lower power consumption.
