Android 15 Beta 1.2 update addresses app freezing bug and more

The Android 15 Beta 1.2 update addresses an important bug that sometimes causes applications to freeze. Dubbed the issue number #328865524, it triggered the “Application Not Responding” message on the screen for certain apps. The update fixes one of the system problems that caused the battery to drain quickly in some cases. The system Settings app was crashing for some users when they were trying to add a fingerprint. It has also been fixed in the new beta update.

Furthermore, the Beta 1.2 firmware provides a solution to a bug that prevented the system back gesture from working properly. Lastly, the update fixes a problem that caused the screen to flicker repeatedly. Users can also expect the new firmware to provide the usual performance enhancements and improved system stability. The aforementioned are the only changes highlighted in the official changelog for the update.

New Android Beta update is rolling out over the air

The firmware of the new update is “AP31.240322.027“ (compared to AP31.240322.03 of the Beta 1.1 update). The new update is available for all supported Pixel devices. These include the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro.

The new update doesn’t add any new features to the Pixels. These are reserved for the Android 15 Beta 2 version, which Google will likely release during I/O 2024. The event is kicking off on May 14, so mark your calendars.

All these devices enrolled in the Android Beta program will be getting the Beta 1.2 update over the air. The OTA update is being rolled out in a phased manner, so not every device will receive it right away. Notably, if you can’t wait for the OTA update, then you can always manually flash these updates on your Pixels. The files for the new update are available on Android’s developer website.
