Apple

An Apple for teacher… and child and parent | by anice hassim | May, 2024 – Medium

So the “context” in which we would use iPad would be different to the context in which we use Mac or iPhone, and now even Apple Watch or Vision Pro.

And there are many contexts in which iPad is King of the Hill — THE best device to enjoy your time in that context — but I expect one of them to take centre stage today, one that has evolved out of Steve’s trucks vs cars analogy.

The iPad has proved to be a fearsome education device as well. Rugged, robust, long functional lifespans and extremely high quality ecosystem of services and content.

Children love the iPad. Parents know this.

They take to it as naturally as ducks to water constantly amazing parents at precociously early ages who sadly may think their child geniuses (but that’s another story).

There is a massive market space in education, a space which Apple has a proud legacy in. Chromebooks and cheap Android dreck largely rules the lower and middle segments of the market but Apple may have done its laps and is finally ready to enter the race.

Clearly Pencil is going to be a huge element. AI capable Silicon another.

Infusing AI playfulness and fun to a learning device and ecosystem is entirely the kind of opportunity Apple likes. The ability to impact a market with the whole fusion of its art and science and consumer trust.

The impact of AI infused workflows and generative AI services is going to transform vast segments of our lives. Much like the current generation who cannot imagine life before a smartphone, the new generation will not be able to fathom how we lived with our dumb phones.

Education will be a sector that will be so transformed and Apple is going to lay claim to offering a system that can be trusted, economical and playful.

And of course, in today’s continuous learning world, it’s not just the kids who go to school anymore.
