At the start of the year, at the end of the release event for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, the South Korean OEM teased a new device: the Galaxy S25 Edge. We knew it as the S25 Slim before it was teased, and that name still expresses the device’s selling point. Yep, its whole purpose for existing is that it is thinner than any other flagship.
Quite obviously, it didn’t launch with the rest of the family, and amidst a slew of leaks, we’ve been waiting for something official to tell us when we can actually expect to see the phone. Well, that time has finally come. Samsung has confirmed that the device will be launching in a few days.
The Super-Slim Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Is Coming on May 13th

I have spent the last few months wondering aloud about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and who might want to pay a premium for it. After all, its major win is that it is a “slim” phone, and it never quite seemed like there was a big market for that. However, Samsung has made it clear that this is “more than a slim smartphone” and that it represents a “breakthrough in precise engineering”. Okay, Samsung. Sure.
Regardless of my stance on the device, it is coming, and it is coming soon. In fact, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will arrive on May 13th, which is in just a few days. The device will be announced at 9 AM Korean time, which is 12 AM UTC/GMT (so you can convert it easily to your native timezone).

Samsung really fluffs up the device in its press release and makes reference to the device’s flagship performance, premium build, and Galaxy AI. It shouldn’t be a significantly different experience from any of the other S25 phones, though.
Samsung Confirms That the S25 Edge Will Be Getting the S25 Ultra’s 200MP Camera
An earlier rumor said that the slimmest member of the S25 family was going to defy its low-profile build and bring the best camera that Samsung has to offer, and now, that rumor has panned out. Samsung has confirmed that the S25 Edge will be getting a 200MP primary camera—the same one that’s in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

It is annoying that Samsung has stuck to the same camera setup for the S25 and S25+ that we’ve seen in the last few generations, while the new kid gets the top-of-the-line setup. But hey, that exclusivity might be enough to push a few sales.
There haven’t been that many phones released with 200MP cameras (either main or telephoto) in the last few years. Here are a few of them:
- Samsung Galaxy S25/S24/S23 Ultra
- Vivo X200 Ultra/Pro
- Vivo X100 Ultra
- Honor Magic 7 Pro
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro series
