Teen steals cars in Memphis and Nashville; now being held on $500k bond, DA says – Action News 5

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office is reporting that a teen is in custody after car thefts in both Memphis and Nashville.

Bryun Watkins is charged with theft of property and vandalism after police say he stole a RAM TRX truck from Memphis on May 9.

While the incident is considered nonviolent, Assistant District Attorney Cody Tolbert told the court Watkins’s extensive juvenile record, which can now be considered under a new Tennessee law, warranted the high bond amount.

After hearing the State’s argument, the judge issued Watkins a bond of $500,000.

Watkins also faces a pending charge in Nashville related to a separate car theft involving four other suspects.
