The Samsung Galaxy A57 mid-range smartphone has been tipped to pack a speedy new chipset, but it’s not the only component that needs an upgrade.
Dutch website GalaxyClub has issued a report claiming to that Samsung is already “extensively testing” a processor for the Samsung Galaxy A57.
According to this latest report, the Samsung Galaxy A57 will run on the brand new Exynos 1680, which carries the model number S5E8865 and the codename Terra.
That’s it for specifics, but it did get us to thinking about what we’d like to see from Samsung’s next mid-range champ.

What we’d like to see from the Samsung Galaxy A57
While we appreciated some of the improvements made with the Samsung Galaxy A56, our reviewer felt that Samsung could have done more.
For example, while the main camera on the Galaxy A56 is solid, we’d like to see Samsung improving the secondary cameras for its successor.
Starting with that Exynos 1680 processor, we hope it provides a meaningful boost. While the Exynos 1580 proves capable enough in the Galaxy A56, it isn’t exactly a performance titan, even within the mid-range class. Gaming performance, in particular, could do with a boost.

The camera provision could do with a boost, too. In recent months we’ve seen the likes of the £450 Nothing Phone (3a) Pro and the £380 Motorola Edge 60 give us dedicated telephoto cameras. Could Samsung do something similar in the (presumably) £500 Samsung Galaxy A57?
We’d also like to see Samsung improving the speaker output for the Galaxy A57, as the Galaxy A56’s stereo pair are lacking in mids and lows, and there’s a disappointing degree of separation.
With the Samsung Galaxy A56 having only hit the market in March, we’re still the best part of a year out from a Galaxy A57 launch. Given that Samsung has some work to do to reclaim the mid-range smartphone crown, however, we’re getting our wish list in nice and early.
