I’m not here to delve into “PC Master Race” debates now, but it is hard to argue against the fidelity and accessibility of PC gaming in this era. Almost everyone has a computer after all. The same argument can be made for Android gaming, since most people have a smartphone, and Androids are more common than the competition.
If you happen to game on both your computer and your Android device, you might find it tough to find a gamepad that brings all the features you want while still remaining perfectly compatible with both devices. It doesn’t need to be tough anymore. That’s what the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 exists for.
8BitDo Ultimate 2 Brings Pro-Grade Controls for Less Than Its Opponents

I play games quite often on my PC, and here and there on my Android device. For some games, a keyboard and mouse are the logical choice. Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals are probably the two titles I play, and I instantly opt for those. However, for most others, like Forza Horizon 4, Enter the Gungeon, and Hades, it has to be a controller. For Android gaming like CODM, I wish I had a compatible gamepad even more so.
I don’t consider myself to be a hardcore gamer, but I can still see a pro-level controller and find myself drooling over it. That was how I reacted to seeing the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller, and I think it might be the answer to a lot of our gaming problems.
Design
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 has a familiar design. It takes on the look that was popularized by the Xbox controller, with the ABXY buttons and the offset left and right thumbsticks. There are enough differences between them for a keen eye not to mistake one for the other, though.
The controller comes in black, white, and purple colorways. The rim around the base of each thumbstick has a customizable RGB ring, for a high-tech look.
Connectivity

This controller can connect to your Android device via Bluetooth, as expected. That’s perfect if you want to engage in some cloud gaming. With a computer, you’ll be able to use it when plugged in via a wire, as well as wirelessly. For the latter, you’ll have to use 8BitDo’s included 2.4G wireless adapter, which plugs into a USB port for ultra-low latency.
- Android: Bluetooth
- Windows (Wired): USB-C
- Windows (Wireless): 2.4G Adapter
Triggers and Buttons

You get the usual suite of buttons that you’d expect from a game controller, and then some. For instance, there are two thumbsticks, a D-pad, ABXY face buttons, and then a bumper and a trigger on each side, just as you’d expect from a controller.

However, it adds a few extra features that you’ll typically only see on pro controllers. For instance, there’s a Fast Bumper (L4, R4) and a paddle on each side, giving you even more control. You can also individually change the triggers between non-linear tactile and linear modes with switches on the back.
Charging

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 charges through an included dock, which also doubles as a place to store the 2.4G USB adapter when you’re not using it. The moment you take your controller off the dock, it’ll reconnect to your device, making things very convenient. However, you’ll also be able to charge via USB-C.
Pricing

This new controller from 8BitDo has just launched, and for everything that you get, while it’ll cost quite a bit, it doesn’t cost too much considering everything that it delivers.
The controller is available in multiple regions, and in the US, it’ll go for $59.99. In the United Kingdom, it costs £49.99. In Europe, that comes to €59.99. You can purchase the controller through the link below:
