However, soon after we got dual-core CPUs and 2GB RAMs and over the years these numbers have only grown, giving us eight-core monsters such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888. And now, a phone by ZTE becomes the first-ever phone to offer 18GB of RAM — the highest in a smartphone.

The device is named ZTE Axon 30 Ultra Aerospace Edition. Launched only in China, for now, this special edition smartphone is essentially a tribute to the spirit of space exploration as well as Chinese astronauts who have spent hours in space, developing their newest space station, ‘Tianhe’, which means Harmony of the Heaven.

The smartphone gets a 6.67-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED panel with support for HDR10+. The device also has a refresh rate of 144Hz.

Taking a peek under the hood, you’ll find the device powered by the mighty powerful Snapdragon 888 paired with the gargantuan 18GB RAM and 1TB of storage space.

What’s more is that the phone offers a virtual memory feature that can essentially add two more gigabytes of RAM, making the phone have 20GB of RAM in total.

And with all the bells and whistles, comes a hefty price tag, with the special Aerospace Edition ZTE Axon 30 Ultra priced at 6,998 Yuan, which is around Rs 82,000. In comparison, a non-special ZTE Axon 30 Ultra with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage sells for 4,698 Yuan which is around Rs 55,000.
