Three lanes of the westbound 91 Freeway are scheduled to close overnight for construction work on both sides of the Riverside-Orange county line on Thursday and Friday, April 8-9.

The closures of the No. 3, 4 and 5 lanes between Green River Road in Corona and the 241 Toll Road in Orange County are scheduled to take place Thursday from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. and Friday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., the Riverside County Transportation Commission said in a news release.

The transportation commission is working with Caltrans, the Orange County Transportation Authority, the Transportation Corridor Agencies and Corona to construct a westbound lane 2 miles long, in a project that aims to relieve a choke point in the morning commute.

The new 91 Freeway lane is expected to open in late 2021.
