MENAHGA – Lauren Schnettler’s 13 kills and 21 digs powered Browerville-Eagle Valley to a 3-0 sweep over the Menahga volleyball team on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Grace Lorentz added 11 kills and Anna Myers had 14 digs in B-EV’s 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 win.
Five kills by Erica Tormanen and an ace serve by Anna Pietila gave Menahga an 11-4 lead in Set 1. Kills by Leah Weaver, Pietila, Tormanen and Taija Pinoniemi kept the Braves in front 22-21 before B-EV put the set away.
B-EV jumped out to a 7-1 lead in Set 2 before an ace serve by Pietila and kills by Weaver and Tormanen cut the gap to 16-12. Kills by Addie Pinoniemi, Weaver and Tormanen made it 20-19 before B-EV closed out that set.
Janelle Hendrickson’s kill and ace serve and a kill by Tormanen helped Menahga forge a 6-6 tie in Set 3. Two kills by Weaver and kills by Hendrickson and Pietila kept the Braves within 14-13 while two kills by Tormanen and another ace serve by Hendrickson had Menahga within 22-21. B-EV went on a 4-0 run to end the match.
Tormanen had 11 of Menahga’s 26 kills, Pietila set up 19 kills, and Addie Pinoniemi (14), Hendrickson (14) and Niina Pinoniemi (11) had double digits in digs as the Braves fell to 3-10. B-EV improved to 15-3.
