A new Cabinet-level committee will assess whether foreign entities should be allowed to participate in the U.S. telecommunications services sector, under an executive order the White House issued Saturday.

The committee, led by Attorney General William Barr, will assist the “FCC in its public interest review of national security and law enforcement concerns” that may be raised by foreign companies that want to enter the sector, according to the order.
