Tirupati: After two months lockdown, autorickshaws and other public transport vehicles have come back on track in Tirupati on Monday. Autos are operating by its owners for carrying the passengers and following the covid-19 protocols. Transport authorities and traffic police issued specific guidelines for this.

They have to operate autos only with one passenger, after every trip they should sterilise autos. And also auto drivers must allow passengers who wear masks. It may be noted that about 3,000 autos were in the city, while few autos only were seen on roads with limited passengers.

At the same time passengers are also thinking to use public carriers in view of corona virus spread. Drivers also placed sanitisers in their autos to clean passenger hands at the time boarding the auto.

Before the lockdown autos drivers had been charging Rs 30 for each passenger as minimum fare, now this was enhanced up to Rs 50. Hence people are also not showing interest to use autos by spending high amount for small distance travelling.
