Nintendo is releasing a new color for the Nintendo Switch Lite, a dark blue, that it plans to release next month. For anyone that wants to add to their collection of every color or pick up their first Switch console, these should hit stores in the next few weeks.
As expected the new dark blue color of the Nintendo Switch Lite will be priced at $199. Just like the other versions of the handheld. That should be expected since this isn’t a limited edition model of any kind.
By adding this new blue color, Nintendo is expanding the color options to five. You can also pick the Switch Lite in Coral, Yellow, Gray, and Turquoise. Though you might be hard pressed to find some locally if you live in an area with stock issues.
Nintendo will launch the blue Switch Lite on May 21
Hoping to get your hands on one of these? Well you won’t have to wait too long because the official launch is happening on May 21.
Nintendo says that most major retailers should be carrying them. So check your local retailers for stock when you can. Alternatively you can probably find one pretty easily online when May 21 rolls around. Nintendo is also launching a new game on May 21 for the Switch called Miitopia. Though, this is not part of a bundled launch or anything. Nintendo simply made the release dates the same.
Having said that, the simultaneous release of both was certainly a strategic thing. As Nintendo probably wants to draw more attention to both items. And this is a good way to do that.
More colors on the way?
With Nintendo’s Switch Lite roster up to five colors, some may be wondering if Nintendo has plans to launch more colors in the future.
While Nintendo hasn’t really given out any hints to suggest this may happen, it’s still possible. Given the pace at which Nintendo releases new colors though, it won’t necessarily happen soon. If it happens at all.
The company has released plenty of different color and design options for the Switch though. Which has been available for a longer period of time. And Nintendo seems keen on allowing players to have a wide variety of options to find the handheld that best fits their personal play style.
Nintendo is also rumored to be coming out with a new version of the Switch console that comes with a bigger display.
