TfW introduce reduced rail fares | Rail News – Rail Technology Magazine

In a bid to entice the public to make the switch to sustainable travel in the new year, Transport for Wales is currently offering reduced pricings on their rail tickets.

In the new sale, customers are able to purchase tickets for 12 journeys for the price of six across all Muliflex tickets. This deal will provide commuters with a meaningful reason to return to rail, making up the lost passenger numbers throughout the recent pandemic restrictions.

As the UK emboldens its stance on promoting sustainability in the bid to achieve carbon net zero, encouraging travel through the worlds greenest form of mass public transport will not only help to stop pollutants from car travel, but also reduce road congestion in the process.

Welcoming the news, Deputy Minister for Climate Change, with a responsibility for transport, Lee Waters said:

“Today’s announcement will make a real difference to individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet as we face up to the cost-of-living crisis.

“As well as helping to put more money back into people’s pockets, this move will also provide a boost to the rail industry and encourage more people to make the switch to more sustainable travel.”

Reduced ticket pricing is also more important than ever to the British people as we persevere through the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, this reduction in pricing will assist those struggling with the rising inflation, brining public trust to the sector.

Alexia Course, Transport for Wales Chief Commercial Officer said:

“We are very aware that the cost-of-living crisis is affecting everyone at present, and we’d like to play our part in helping our customers where we can.  We want to encourage more people to choose public transport and travel sustainably and this is one of our ways to encourage that.

“We’re proud to be offering a range of cheaper rail travel deals in January and hope this will help in financially difficult times.”
