Amateur esports tournament organizer and platform creator Super League Gaming has announced a partnership with Tencent Games to establish PUBG Mobile esports events in the United States.

Super League Gaming will create a City Champs league for the mobile version of battle royale shooter PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG), along with social play events. The company will also live stream competitions and produce original video content based around its leagues. The first PUBG Mobile amateur events will begin in September.

PUBG Mobile fits perfectly within Super League’s expanding offerings for the more than 100 million enthusiastic gamers across the country,” said Super League Gaming CEO Ann Hand, in a release. “It delivers on every level, with fun gameplay, competitive intensity, and a passionate player base. We could not be more excited to be launching this program with Tencent across our nationwide venue network, SuperLeagueTV, and our recently-acquired Framerate social video network.”

PUBG Mobile has amassed more than 400M downloads to date and has 50M daily users, according to Tencent Games, and has gradually grown its own professional esports scene separate from that of the PC version of PUBG.

Super League Gaming has announced a number of partnerships since its initial public offering near the start of the year. For example, the company has partnered with Capcom to create a Street Fighter V amateur league, with Topgolf to put amateur competitions in its venues, and with Samsung to host a Fortnite competition with popular streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins.
