Shooting outside party near Mead Valley injures 6 – Press-Enterprise

MEAD VALLEY — Authorities were investigating a shooting outside a party east of Mead Valley after six people showed up at two local hospitals with gunshot wounds early Saturday  morning.

Deputies responded to a call of a possible shooting that occurred at 12:13 a.m. Saturday in the 17400 block of Mockingbird Canyon, an unincorporated county area, where a “large size party” was taking place, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

When deputies arrived, they did not find any victims and sheriff’s officials said the suspects had already fled the scene.

Deputies later discovered that six gunshot victims between the ages of 15 and 20 were being treated at two local hospitals. Four of those victims are listed in stable condition and two are listed in critical condition, said Deanna Pecoraro, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.

Sheriff’s officials said a preliminary investigation revealed that an altercation occurred outside of the party near the street, which resulted in gunfire, after which all parties fled the area.

Authorities did not provide any suspect descriptions and said the investigation was ongoing.
