Samsung Internet Browser is one of the best Android internet browsers. Well, those of you who own a Samsung Galaxy device would be more familiar with this one.
Basically, it combines the Chromium web engine with a customizable user interface and some extension support. The company has been adding new features to the Samsung Internet Browser regularly.
In fact, the latest update that the browser received was in June. And now, a new update is live for the users that brings some notable design changes and core engine upgrade.
Talking about the core engine update, the internal Chromium engine is now updated from v79 to v83. Meaning that users will have the advantage of all the new APIs and security fixes available with Chrome 80, 81, 82, and 83.
Moreover, the Samsung Internet Browser now also supports Web Share API Level 2. This API allows web apps to send files to native Android apps.
New APIs for extensions are also included like webRequest, which is basically used by ad-blockers or content blockers. Apart from this core engine upgrade, new design elements are also visible with Samsung Internet Browser 13.
Samsung Internet Browser 13 update brings One UI 3.0 design elements
After installing the new Samsung Internet Browser 13 update, once the user adds a Bookmark, a new Edit button will show up on the confirmation page.
This would enable the user to quickly change the title and other details of the Bookmark. For tablets, the corners of the tab are now more rounded to give it a modern appeal.
Moreover, the bottom action bar is also getting an upgrade with One UI 3.0 design elements. There are some new settings options as well, that users can tweak.
Additionally, the permissions request notification is also getting a new user interface. The permission notification now also shows the entire warning message, if you visit a malicious website.
Some other nifty changes include double tap to Play/Pause online videos, new grid view tabs, smart Anti-Tracking, etc.
Apparently, users of Samsung Internet Browser 13 will be able to enable high contrast mode at the same time as the dark mode. Besides, there is a new option where users can also hide the status bar while scrolling.
The updated version of the Internet Browser is specifically v18.104.22.168 and is rolling out for all the non-beta users via the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Apps Store.
