ARLINGTON, Texas — Mississippi State and Texas Tech both had obstacles to overcome heading into Opening Weekend at the State Form College Showdown.

Texas Tech dealt with inclement weather throughout the Lone Star State leading up to the tournament, as did MSU when Winter Storm Uri swept across Texas and the Deep South. Additionally. Tech got bad news last week when projected Friday righthanded pitcher Hunter Dobbins went down with a season-ending UCL injury.

MSU’s bad news didn’t arrive until the weekend. The Bulldogs originally were expected to start Christian MacLeod, Will Bednar and Eric Cerantola this weekend.
