PS5 headset

Needing some accessories now that you’ve got a PS5 on the way? Check out Sony’s Playstation 5 pulse 3D wireless headset (£84.99, Amazon.co.uk), which landed a spot in our review of the best PS5 accessories.

Our tester said: “There’s no shortage of gaming headset options out there but the PlayStation 5 pulse 3D wireless headset is a little bit special. Made with certain PlayStation 5 games in mind, its 3D audio means you can feel fully immersed in the experience, feeling like things are truly happening all around you. “It’s a distinctive way of doing things that stands out more so than conventional headsets, even if not all games fully take advantage of it just yet. It can help you gain an advantage in certain titles too, which is always useful.

“It uses a wireless adapter to connect to your console rather than Bluetooth which is a minor irritant, and you’ll need to remember to recharge it, but it sounds fantastic and it’s comfy to wear even after a number of hours of playing.”

‘Horizon Forbidden West’: Everything we know about the upcoming game

If you’ve managed to get your hands on a PS5 from Argos then congratulations! Now you’ll need to get some games for it.

One of our most anticipated upcoming releases for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 is Horizon Forbidden West, the follow-up to Guerilla Games’s Horizon Zero Dawn.

Players will take control of Aloy, a hunter who travels a post-apocalyptic version of the United States that has been overrun by dinosaur-like machines. If the title didn’t give it away, Aloy will be travelling west to find the source of a mysterious plague, which will take her through the familiar but desolate sights of California, Nevada and Yosemite Valley.

Horizon Forbidden West is set to be released on 18 February 2022, you can find out more about it in our article below.

Best PS5 games

Congrats to anyone who managed to buy the PS5 at Argos this morning. With the console now on its way, you’re probably going to want to buy some games to go with your new machine. We’ve got a round-up of the best PS5 games for you to peruse.

In the bestselling Spider-Man: Miles Morales game (£44.99, Currys.co.uk), Peter Parker is replaced with his awkward teenage protégé, Miles Morales. A next-generation spin-off, Spider-Man: Miles Morales refines the original’s formula,” our reviewer said. “This is a streamlined adventure with a more focused story, far less busy work and an endearingly clumsy protagonist still getting to grips with his powers.”

Meanwhile, Demon’s Souls (£57.99, Currys.co.uk) on PS5 is a showcase of what the new console is capable of. “The oppressive gothic architecture, yawning arches and festering dungeons of this cult classic look spectacular on the new hardware, while remaining faultlessly faithful to the aesthetic and vibe of the original game,” our tester said.

The best 4K TV for your new PS5

While we wait for news on the Argos restock, it’s time to think about upgrading your television. The PS5 outputs video at 4K resolution and can even handle games running at 120 frames per second. That’s something not all TVs can manage, so if you want to see your new console running at its best, a new TV could be worthwhile.

We’ve rounded up nine of the best 4K TVs available right now, from manufacturers including Samsung, LG, Sony and Panasonic, among others. And the great news is you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a great 4K television – prices of our favourites start at under £400.

What’s the difference between the two models of PS5?

As Argos is stocking both models of the PS5 here’s a quick rundown for both versions.

Sony sells two versions of the PS5. These are known as the disc edition and the digital edition. They have the same performance, design and technical specifications, but the digital edition does not have a disc drive. This means games can only be played by downloading them, and obviously there’s no way to play DVDs or Blu-ray movies.

The digital edition is also cheaper, at £359.99 compared to £449.99 for the disc edition.

Will ‘Call of Duty’ still be available on PS5?

Activision Blizzard owns some of the biggest properties in the gaming space, namely Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Overwatch, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Candy Crush and more. That seems like a lot of games.

Call of Duty is a particular one to note on that extensive list, if you were hoping to pick up a copy to play on your new PS5 then where does that acquisition leave Sony fans?

Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, clarified the company’s position in a tweet, which seems to confirm that Call of Duty will still be available for Playstation users:

If you’re not a fan of the off-white look of the original PS5 cover then Playstation have launched two new colours today: Midnight Black and Cosmic Red, with Nova Pink, Galactic Purple, and Starlight Blue arriving later this year.
