A Perris resident was shot during a robbery on Saturday, Nov. 21, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

Sgt. Lionel Murphy, in a response Tuesday to an inquiry by this news organization, said that at about 3 p.m., deputies responding to a report of a robbery in the 3600 block of Brennan Avenue discovered a person who had been shot by a person who was unknown the victim.

The victim was hospitalized and was expected to survive the gunshot, Murphy said.

The Sheriff’s Department declined to say what was being stolen, say whether anyone was arrested or provide any description of the suspect.

“The incident is actively being investigated with no further information being released at this time,” Murphy wrote in an email.
