During the Xbox Games Showcase yesterday, Ninja Theory revealed that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is set in Iceland. While there’s no new gameplay footage, Ninja Theory has released a little bit more to tease fans.

Tameem Antoniades, co-founder of Ninja Theory, shared some additional details on the development process in the second Dreadnought Diary on the official Ninja Theory YouTube channel. You can check out the latest Dreadnought Diaries update in the video below.

Antoniades states that “Everything [in Hellblade 2] should be based on something real,” from the sounds of streams to the look of different rocks.

As part of achieving this, Ninja Theory visited Iceland and brough along members of the development team as well as Heilung, the band working on the game’s soundtrack. Ninja Theory also cooperated with Quixel to scan different parts of Iceland that can be imported as assets into the game.

Ninja Theory has previously shared that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. About 40 developers are working on the game, which is twice as many as worked on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice but is still fairly small by the standards of game development.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 does not currently have a release window. When it arrives, it’ll be available on Xbox Series X and PC.
