Popular audio streaming platform Spotify has just released the much-anticipated upgrade for its AI DJ feature. Now you can request the Spotify AI DJ to play music that suits your mood or surroundings. The company originally introduced its AI-generated DJ in February 2023, before launching it for users in more countries in August 2023.
Spotify’s AI-generated DJ now takes music requests
You can now use your voice and request the Spotify AI DJ in the app to update your listening session based on the music you want to hear at the moment. Whether you’re thinking of something to set the mood for a date night or need some high-intensity workout tracks for your gym sessions, you can simply request the DJ to play such songs.
As per the company’s blog post, Spotify’s AI DJ can handle a combination of genre, mood, artist, or activity-related requests. In one example, the company mentioned that you could try, “Surprise me with some indie tracks I’ve never heard before,” or “Play me some cry-in-the-car songs.”
How to request music with Spotify’s AI DJ
If the AI-powered Spotify DJ feature is available in your region, then head to the search tab and search for “DJ.” Then, hit the play button, and the DJ will deliver a curated mix of music and commentary tailored to you. If you want to change the setting, press and hold the DJ button in the right-hand corner.
Once you hear a beep, you can use your voice to ask for the type of songs you want to listen to at that moment. After a couple of seconds, the DJ will update your listening session based on your choice, listening history, music preferences, and more. Furthermore, you can simply skip to the next section with a quick tap on the DJ button if you just want to change the vibe without a specific request.
It’s worth mentioning that Spotify’s AI DJ is taking music requests only in English for Premium subscribers at the moment. That said, the feature is rolling out in more than 60 countries where DJ is currently available.
