Maruti Suzuki Concept Futuro-E
Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will be displaying an array of 16 vehicles at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. Among the upcoming vehicles there will be two all-new SUVs and an electric SUV at display. The Maruti Suzuki electric SUV is likely to go on sale in the Indian market by 2025.
This electric SUV is likely to be one of the showstoppers at the Auto Expo next year. While the details on the official nameplate of the upcoming model aren’t made public yet, the car is currently known by code: YY8. This will mark the beginning of the company’s EV journey. Previoulsy, Maruti Suzuki has also displayed similar models such as Futuro-e was in 2020 and the Future-S in 2018.
The upcoming Maruti YY8 concept is likely to measure close to 4.2 meters in length which make it comparable to the popular Hyundai Creta SUV. The car will come based on the 27PL platform which is a derivative of Toyota’s 40PL global platform.
The car is likely to be offered in two battery pack options – a 48kWh and 59kWh unit. While the smaller 48kWh is likely to deliver close to 400 km on full charge range, the 59kWh option is estimated to return around 500km. While the details aren’t official yet, the company is said to have been sourcing LFP blade cell batteries from BYD (Build Your Dreams) which also sells electric cars in the Indian market. Moreover, BYD also supplies batteries to Tesla.
As far pricing is concerned, the car is likely to go on sale in the Indian market somewhere in the range of Rs 13 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
