The trooper caught up to the young man who sped away. Then the young man struck him.

CANTON A young man not only led troopers on a brief car chase, which they believe he was intoxicated, he tried to physically fight with them, according to Stark County Jail records.

Isaiah J. Lee, 22, of 2409 Sixth St. NW, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. Friday at Cleveland Avenue and 28th Street SW.

According to the jail records, troopers with the Ohio Highway Patrol tried to stop him for speeding when he continued on, speeding away. At one point he stopped the car and tried to run away.

When troopers caught up to him, Lee began to fight and hit one trooper in the face.

Lee was already wanted on a misdemeanor warrant charging him with disorderly house. Stark County court records show that warrant was issued in October after police had been called to his house numerous times. He was accused of being intoxicated, breaking things and harassing relatives who live in the home.

Lee was arrested on that warrant and on charges of felony assault, failure to comply with police, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated, driving under suspension, speeding and no safety belt.

He remained in the jail Saturday, held without bond pending a Canton Municipal Court hearing.
