A setup like this is mostly found in the offices, especially in meeting rooms. The laser source that will charge all the devices could be put in one place, for example, like the ceiling, from where it can wirelessly charge all the smartphones and other devices present in the room. The source will be designed to bypass humans and pets present in the room. The devices that need to be charged will require a “specific sensor” on them that will act as a receptor to the laser light.
Huawei, in a statement given to Android Authority, says that the receptor can be imagined as a “miniature solar cell” and the feature “is estimated to likely be in phones two to three generations from now.” However, this is just a patent yet, filed by Huawei but certainly something that could alleviate the device charging issues.
