Why do I need to update my router firmware?

Think of it like this: your router is in charge of keeping all your wireless devices connected to the internet. That is a very important job, and while we don’t often pay much attention to it, it’s essential to at least keep an eye on it and update it from time to time.

As with other smart products, router firmware updates usually improve performance. They can also patch security bugs. In the case of more modern routers with smart functionality, firmware updates can even introduce excellent features to enhance your experience altogether.

QUICK ANSWER

The process to update router firmware is different with every manufacturer. Generally, you will have to download the firmware from the brand’s website and go into the router’s admin page, using its IP address on a browser. You then have to navigate to the updating page and upload the files. When your device finishes updating, restart it.
