HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Hull boys soccer picks up a couple firsts – Enterprise News


The Hull High boys soccer team achieved a couple firsts on Thursday.

The Pirates (1-5) defeated South Shore Christian Academy, 5-0, to earn their first victory of the season. Sasha Green, a junior goalkeeper, recorded his first varsity shutout in the win.

But the star of the day was junior captain Jack Burke, who scored four goals in the win. Caleb Whelan, a junior, also scored.

Richie Chau, Sean Marois, Max Day and Tony Alibrandi all had assists.

In other high school action on Thursday:

BOYS SOCCER

East Bridgewater 6, Randolph 2: The Blue Devils had no answer for Mathias Floeck, who powered the Vikings (6-1) to their fifth straight win with five goals. Lucas Sylvia had the other tally for EB.

West Bridgewater 3, Holbrook 0: Derek Thorburn scored twice and Collin Shamey netted another tally to pace the Wildcats (4-1). 

Blue Hills 2, Southeastern 0: Ryan Clark turned in a shutout performance in net while Mike Toscano and Alessandro Gomez tallied goals for the Warriors (5-0-1). Manny Dominguez and Cedric Jean-Lestin dished out the assists in the win.

St. John’s (Shrewsbury) 4, BC High 0: The Eagles allowed two goals to Kwame Adu-Gyamfi to fall to 1-1-1.

Braintree 0, Walpole 0: The Bay State Conference foes battled to a scoreless draw.

Norwell 5, Abington 0: The Clippers took care of business, cruising to a South Shore League win. 

Cohasset 4, Mashpee 1: The Skippers moved to 3-1-1 behind four different scorers.

GIRLS SOCCER

Cohasset 4, Mashpee 2: Four different goal scorers powered the Skippers to a South Shore League win. Georgia Barrett, Cat Herman, Mia Froio and Gracyn Lord all found the back of the net.

Norwell 6, Abington 1: The Clippers (4-1) won their fourth straight contest as Paige Flanders and Allison Jenkins each potted a pair of goals. Caroline Hayes and Eden Wheeler chipped in in the scoring department with a goal each. Shannon Groom scored the lone tally for the Green Wave (0-5) on a free kick from 30 yards out.

Blue Hills 2, Southeastern 0: Emily Lehane (Braintree) and Bella Prisco (Holbrook) provided the scoring for the Warriors (5-1-1) off of assists from Kathleen Murphy (Norwood) and Chloe Gallagher (Braintree). Mikeyla Roman (Randolph) earned the shutout in net.

West Bridgewater 2, Holbrook 1: Nora Brodil and Kylie Fuller’s goals were the difference in the win for the Wildcats (5-1). Emily Cochran scored for Holbrook while Taylor Dolan played well in net.

Walpole 5, Braintree 0: The Wamps were held off the scoreboard in the Bay State Conference defeat.

Bridgewater-Raynham 8, New Bedford 1: Ava Forbes-Smith had a hat trick for the Trojans (4-2).

FIELD HOCKEY

Oliver Ames 4, Milford 0: Erin Cottam notched two goals and an assist while Georgia Costello and Julia Maclaine both had a goal and an assist for the Tigers.

Hingham 3, Duxbury 0: The Harborwomen remained undefeated at 5-0 behind goals from Julia Glennon, Kenzie Wilson, and Lily Ehler.

Marshfield 1, Pembroke 1: The Rams and Titans played to a draw in Patriot League action.

Silver Lake 1, West Bridgewater 1: Hailey Beatrice put in the only goal for the Lakers.

Mansfield 4, Stoughton 0: Stephanie Costeira played well in goal for the Black Knights. Kerry Driscoll, Cat Melo, Izzy Paquette, Yasmin Souzaand Eve Saade played well on defense.

VOLLEYBALL

Oliver Ames 3, Milford 2: The Tigers won a five-set thriller as sophomore Claire O’Rourke posted 13 kills and 10 digs while senior Hadley Rhodes recorded 38 assists. Junior Maddie Homer also contributed with 35 digs and sophomore Sarah Hilliard registered 20 kills.

Braintree 3, Walpole 2: Alana Sinclair turned in 19 digs and 7 aces while teammate Mackenzie Dolan added 7 kills and 5 aces to propel the Wamps to a win. 

Bishop Stang 3, Archbishop Williams 0: The Bishops fell in a Catholic Central League clash. 

Holbrook 3, Atlantis 0: Shannon Esperon spearheaded Holbrook with 7 assists and 6 aces while Brianna Sullivan totaled 6 aces and 5 kills and Olivia Hingston collected 4 aces, 4 kills and 2 blocks.

BOYS GOLF

BC High 16, Central Catholic 4: The Eagles went on the road to pick up at a nonconference win. 

Bridgewater-Raynham 136, Durfee 72: Richie Thayer was the medalist of the match for the Trojans (5-2) by shooting a one-under 35. Teammates Caitlin Anderson and PJ Arena followed behind as they both shot 39.

Scituate 268, Whitman-Hanson 302: The Sailors (6-2) took the Patriot League matchup over the Panthers (2-5). John Kinsley, Austin Ryan, and Joe Donovan guided Scituate as they all shot 40. Pat McBroom shot a 6-over 43 to lead W-H in the loss.

Milton 81, Braintree 78: The Wildcats (3-2) squeaked by the Wamps for a Bay State Conference victory. 

Bishop Feehan 207, Cardinal Spellman 95: The Shamrocks took down the Cardinals in Catholic Central League play. 

Marshfield 265, Hanover 273: Nate O’Brien earned medalist honors for the Rams by shooting a 39.

Duxbury 247, North Quincy 297: The Dragons prevailed in the Patriot League contest. 

Plymouth South 297, Silver Lake 270: Jackson Quigg received medalist honors as he sparked the Panthers in the Patriot League win.

West Bridgewater 116, Brockton 100: The Wildcats won at D.W. Field Golf Course.

Hingham 242, Quincy 261: Hingham’s Carson Erick shot an even-par 36 for the Harbormen.
