Millions of dollars in federal dollars for smart highway traffic meters, affordable housing, big bear lake water, and other projects inland through 12 spending bills recently passed by a committee of the House of Representatives. It flows to the Empire.

Jay Obernolte, Republican-Big Bear Lake

  • $ 2 million to improve the streets of Maple Avenue in Hesperia.
  • $ 2 million to improve Highland’s Victoria Avenue.
  • $ 960,000 to replenish Big Bear Lake.

Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-San Bernardino

  • $ 1 million to repair the runway at San Bernardino International Airport.
  • $ 712,500 for improvement of the Redlands Emergency Operations Center city.
  • $ 700,000 for an upgrade to a camera worn by Rialto Police.

Norma Torres, D-Pomona

  • $ 2 million to upgrade the Community Recreation Center and make other improvements at Saratoga Park in Montclair.
  • $ 800,000 to help build 75 apartments for low-income residents in downtown Pomona.
  • $ 125,000 for early learning and art education programming for children under 5 at Pomona’s dA Arts Center.

Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert

  • $ 1.5 million to expand and expand Pennsylvania Avenue between 1st and 6th Avenues in Beaumont.

  • $ 2.5 million for a quail valley septic tank to sewer conversion project to install sewers in an unincorporated community northeast of Canyon Lake.
  • $ 400,000 to install new pedestrian crossings, signs, lighting, and other safety improvements on Lake Elsinore’s main street.
