HOUSTON – A 19-year-old girl was killed in a suspected DUI crash in north Houston, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred after Sunday afternoon at 191 West Road at North Freeway.
A black Mazda with two occupants was traveling eastbound on West Road. The car entered the intersection in front of a Dodge truck and struck the truck.
According to investigators, the teen was ejected out of the truck, where she struck her head and sustained a significant injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene. She also had a passenger in her vehicle.
The driver of the Mazda was found in a parking lot by another officer, who was off-duty at the time. He was brought back to the scene and identified as the driver.
After a preliminary investigation, the driver of the Mazda was found to be intoxicated.
He is being charged with driving while intoxicated and failing to render aid.
