The Galaxy concludes the first half of the regular season with a Wednesday night meeting with Real Salt Lake.
The club starts the week in 3rd place (28 points) at the Western Conference. This is just 4 points ahead of Seattle in 1st place and 5 points ahead of LAFC in 5th place.
So, for the first time in a seemingly long time, the Galaxy has returned to the mix in conference races, despite a year’s transition.
“We’ve adapted to different situations, but we’re still close to the top of the league, which is pretty impressive,” said Greg Vanney, Galaxy’s first-year coach. .. “Groups have a true personality, a willingness to work, a willingness to compete, and a willingness to learn.
“The willingness to find ways to get results over and over again.”
The Galaxy has already exceeded last season’s total points and is in line with last year’s target output (27), but Bunny believes the team is still high on the climb.
“We haven’t even scratched the surface of what we can do,” he said. “But we need to get out of the idea of being good enough and reach the idea of being great. This is the best possible version we can do and it still has to be done. Take it as a group, it’s a completely different step: attention to detail, better connections, faster passage of sharper movements, better defense, faster reading moments.
“Once we are whole and start to stabilize, it is now all these things as a collective unit that we can do better. For me, we are working towards the second half of the season. For, there is a big growth area, which is exciting. ”
First-year goalkeeper Jonathan Bond shares the same feelings as Vanny.
“If we tighten a little defensively, raise the rhythm of the ball a little more, and don’t give too much, our chances are huge,” Bond said. “It’s difficult. Sometimes I play well, sometimes I play well for 90 minutes and I can’t win. That’s exactly how it works. And at the moment, I can get a lot of points and a lot of results in different ways. rice field.”
Chicharito is not ready to return home
Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez (calf) and Victor Vásquez (hamstring) were first described by Galaxy coach Greg Vanny as “suspicious” in the game on Wednesday night.
He then added that Hernandez was “a little more suspicious.”
“There was a setback, a pause in the return to action,” Vanny said. “He’s starting to do some of the work as before. We need to see if he can keep pushing.”
Hernandez has resigned since June 26th.
Resurrection of the Gold Cup Trio
With the end of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Sebastian Lletget (USA) and Jonathan dos Santos and Efrain Alvarez of Mexico are all back.
The availability of each has not yet been confirmed. Alvarez was the only one who didn’t record the heavy part.
“We take their inventory and see what role they can play,” Vanny said. “Hopefully they can play some role, but I still don’t know how much.”
