Here are some of the best selling video games of all time (as of mid-2020).
From old-time classics to modern-day masterpieces, video games have become a staple in households across the world. It’s one of the largest industries and there’s a ton of money invested in it.
Video games have come a long way since the early days of Pong on the Atari. Storytelling and graphics have gotten a boost, to say the least, and are a lot more in-depth. As a result, they’ve also gotten more expensive.
The average AAA video game is priced at $60. Of course, you can find them cheaper but the standard cost will run you anywhere between $40 to $60.
Most of the video games on this list were a lot cheaper than $60, but nonetheless they have been the best selling video games of all time. You may be shocked as to what games made the list!
5. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (60 Million copies sold)
This actually comes as a surprise to me considering how much this game has died down. In my opinion, PUBG game is one of the worst battle royale games that have been created. I would rather play Fortnite or Call of Duty: Warzone before playing this game. However, it doesn’t matter what I think because PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has successfully sold over 60 million copies.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds sold for $30 upon release. If you include free-to-play versions of the game, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has over 400 million registered players. It was one of the groundbreaking games that helped push the battle royale genre to the forefront.
Despite only being released on March 23, 2017, it has already broken into the top five best-selling video games of all time and it has only been a little over three years. Gamers can thank PlayersUnknown’s Battlegrounds for giving other gaming companies battle royale ideas, leading to the creation of some of the most fun battle royale games to date. Maybe I’ll give the game another chance and have a different outlook on it.
