The rumor mill was right: Facebook plans to claim office space at a freshly built, unique office stack in Atlantic Station.

On Wednesday, representatives with developer Hines announced the social media behemoth has inked a deal for the entire top floor—almost 36,000 square feet—of T3 West Midtown, a timber-framed mid-rise on 17th Street.

The move, which brings the new office development to 65 percent leased, is the latest instance of big tech jobs migrating to Midtown, following the likes of search engine giant Google, music streaming company Pandora, and healthcare provider Anthem.

As of November, electric car company Tesla Motors was reportedly kicking tires at T3 West Midtown, too.

The 230,000-square-foot structure is the first of its kind in Atlanta, thanks to its wooden construction.

The method, though, could also be used on the other side of town soon, with developer Lucror Resources promising a six-story timber-framed office building at the Waldo’s Old 4th Ward mixed-use community.

T3 West Midtown also features ground-floor communal work space, workout facilities, outdoor terraces on each floor, and a rooftop patio. It flanks a miniature park.

Facebook joins other T3 tenants IA Interior Architects, which claimed more than 7,000 square feet, and Macy’s Technology, which took 107,000 square feet.

Elsewhere at Atlantic Station, Hines is also developing the 500,000-square-foot Atlantic Yards office building, slated for delivery later this year.
