One person is dead after a dump truck crashed into a car Monday in south Houston.

The crash happened on the South Sam Houston Parkway feeder road at Telephone Road around 2:20 p.m.

The dump truck appears to have been driving east along the feeder when it slammed into the side of a Nissan Versa, spinning it out of control and into the grassy median between the feeder and tollway.

After the collision, the dump truck drove off the roadway and flipped on its side – nearly missing two wooden crosses on the side of the highway placed in remembrance of two others who died in a crash along the same stretch of road.

Several people were rushed to area hospitals, where one of them died, according to Houston police.

It is unclear who was at fault in the crash or if any charges or citations will be filed.
