SAN ANTONIO – A driver whose car crashed outside a west Bexar County home early Friday was found to be suffering from gunshot wounds.

The 19-year-old man lost control of his car around 5 a.m. and slammed into a pickup truck in the driveway of a home in the 9800 block of Misty Plain.

A man who lives in that home told KSAT12 he heard the noise, looked out his window and could see several people there.

Initially, he said he thought the person who hit his truck was about to run away.

He realized, though, that the driver instead was suffering from gunshot wounds and the back window of his car had been shot out.

The homeowner said he saw two passengers who appeared to be trying to help the wounded man out of the car.

Bexar County sheriff’s deputies said the driver suffered a gunshot wound to his back and also was grazed in the head by a bullet.

They searched the area nearby and found shell casings.

Deputies said the wounded man, although alert and talking when he left for a hospital, was not offering much information about what happened.

They took the two passengers into custody for questioning.
