Disney Plus’s GroupWatch feature – which allows subscribers of the platform to watch TV shows and movies on the same stream – is launching in the UK today.
GroupWatch has been exclusive to the US for nearly a month – which meant that UK viewers had to use a VPN to access the feature. Now, UK subscribers can login as normal and access GroupWatch on desktop, mobile and smart TVs to stream content with up to six other people. The launch comes just days before season 2 of The Mandalorian kicks off.
Whoever starts the watch party must initiate it on either web or mobile, but then subscribers can click on the URL on other devices and tune in. Viewers can react with emojis alongside the stream, and control playback for everyone.
Viewers can access GroupWatch by selecting the icon with three figures located next to the title of the item they wish to watch. You can find out more details on how to set up a Disney+ GroupWatch here.
GroupWatch sadly doesn’t include a dedicated chatbox feature. However, Teleparty is another watch party piece of software that does support text chat and now works on Disney+. However, this is only available on web browsers, and not on mobile devices.
If you’ve not yet signed up for Disney+, you can do so on the website for either £5.99 on a monthly rolling subscription, or £59.99 for an annual pass. You can also check out all the offers and deals available to get Disney Plus for free.
