WOMAN: “Do What You Want With Your Body, Don’t Tell Me What To Do With Mine.”
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — We don’t like to call out individuals, except when comments are so contrary to common sense that it’s needed.
For every smart person who is wearing a face mask to prevent other people from getting sick, there is someone like a woman by the name of Lee Ann who has turned the battle against COVID-19 into something — seemingly — entirely different. When we posted that Delray Beach has walked back its bizarre email saying face masks are no longer needed — saying late Saturday that you should still wear them — “Lee Ann” posted this to one of our social media pages.
“Do what you want with your body but don’t tell me what do with mine!”
We assume that was directed at BocaNewsNow when we suggested that face coverings will keep other people alive, but the fact that this has turned into a “don’t tell me what to do with my body” item is perhaps a precursor to what we all might be facing down the road.
As infections and deaths continue in Florida — and locally in Palm Beach County — look no further than people like “Lee Ann” to understand how community spread happens. Even if you’re not mandated under threat of arrest to wear a face covering, there’s a point where you do the right thing to keep other people alive.
But apparently not Lee Ann. Suggesting that she wear a face covering is apparently telling her what to do with her body.
Never mind that what she’s doing with her body may end up infecting someone else.
