CHICO —  After temporarily closing for almost eight weeks, the Chico Mall is planning to reopen Wednesday.

Ethan Conrad Properties, Inc., which owns the mall, announced the reopening in a news release Friday night. Butte County Public Health declared its intention to move further into “Phase Two” of the restriction from the governor’s stay-at-home order in a virtual press conference Friday.

The mall’s tentative hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to the reopening, the release stated that new tenants will be joining the mall soon.

  • HomeGoods will be starting construction in the coming weeks.
  • H&M will be completing construction and preparing for their grand opening.
  • Planet Fitness is on track to finish construction and open soon.

The Friday release also said that the property is in the midst of rebranding its name from Chico Mall to Chico Marketplace. There are plans for the installation of a brand-new 57-foot-tall pylon sign advertising Chico Marketplace to drivers along Highway 99.

Five new and national tenants are also in negotiations with the mall and will likely be announced in one to two months.
