Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most controversial game releases of the last generation, if only because its vast potential was brought down by the innumerable number of bugs and glitches in the game. In a statement to Reuters, CD Projekt’s joint CEO Adam Kicinski has once again committed to fixing Cyberpunk 2077, indicating that abandoning the game isn’t going to happen.
From Adam Kicinski:
I don’t see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077. We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come.
Since its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has come under fire for its vast number of bugs, glitches, and flaws. CD Projekt RED has been steadily releasing patch updates to begin resolving some of these problems, culminating in the recently released 1.2 patch update for Cyberpunk 2077. The road to redemption isn’t finished for Cyberpunk 2077, but the over 500 fixes included in the 1.2 patch update has made Cyberpunk 2077 significantly better.
Cyberpunk 2077 launched in such a sorry state for base consoles like Xbox One and PS4, that Sony actually pulled Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store, and Xbox is still offering full refunds for Cyberpunk 2077. Kicinski also mentioned that CD Projekt has been in touch with Sony after the 1.2 patch update, suggesting that Cyberpunk 2077’s return to PlayStation may be imminent.
CD Projekt recently unveiled its 2021 roadmap for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher, and has signaled intent to move to a dual-franchise strategy moving forward. Hopefully, CD Projekt RED follows through on Cyberpunk 2077 and delivers consistent support for fixes, polish, and content updates.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available right now for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. PlayStation players can still play Cyberpunk 2077 and buy it physically, but it’s currently not available digitally in the PlayStation Store.
