America’s gaming scene is probably giddy with excitement given the latest news: Atari is building its first of several themed hotels for gamers.
We find out more about this captivating new property.
Atari announces its foray into the hotel industry
Atari, the company famous for developing games like Pong and Pac-Man, recently announced the signing of a contract with GSD Group which will lead to eight gaming-themed hotels to be built across the United States.
Construction of the first hotel in Phoenix, Arizona, is slated to begin this year. Additional properties are planned in Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco and San Jose.
The first hotel is being developed by True North Studio, a leading real estate developer who is currently working with the GSD Group, Steve Wozniak’s Wozniak Innovation Foundation and Napoleon Smith III., producer of the film franchise reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
“The Atari Hotels will be the first of their kind in the United States to offer players of all ages the ultimate in entertainment and gaming. We are excited to be working with such great partners on this project and to create a great new destination within Arizona,” said Shelly Murphy, founder of the GSD Group.
Gamer-friendly facilities and so much more
As if the Atari-theme design weren’t enough, much more is planned to make every gamer’s heart beat faster.
The newest and best in video gaming including VR and augmented reality experiences will be available for guests and the public to enjoy and experiment with.
But that’s still not it. Some new Atari hotels will be designed to host e-sports events. The idea here is to create the perfect space for this quickly expanding market and create a community out of the shared enthusiasm for all things gaming.
“Together we’ll build a space that will be much more than just a place to stay,” Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said in a statement. “Atari is an iconic global brand that resonates with people of all ages, countries, cultures and ethnic backgrounds and we cannot wait for our fans and their families to enjoy this new hotel concept.”
