The 100 Women of the Heartland Who Care giving circle gathered at the Nevis Muskie in September to hear presentations from Headwaters Animal Shelter, The Door/Level Ground shelter in Laporte, and Northwoods Wildlife Rescue.
The philanthropic group selected The Door/Level Ground to receive their donation of over $4400. Level Ground is a Laporte home, built in 1906, restored as a coffee house for the community with emergency housing upstairs for those in need.
