Two cars burned Sunday afternoon at the W. Glenn Detention Center, according to Lt. Robby Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Department.
Kilgo said no one was hurt.
He added the owners of the cars were at the jail for a visitation.
Some people told us they heard a loud explosion as the cars were burning.
Kilgo said the loud noise was the magnesium in the dash of the one car and the vehicle’s shocks.
Darlington County Fire District Chief Ricky Flowers said an electrical problem sparked a fire in one of the cars and flames spread to another one.
