On Monday, we exclusively reported additional details on the 2018 iPad Pro refresh. According to sources familiar with the product’s development, the 2018 iPad Pro models will feature support for landscape and vertical Face ID, an A12X processor, and more. Meanwhile, Apple this week released iOS 12.0.1 to the public. The update brings fixes for charging issues experienced by some users, keyboard changes for the iPad, and more.
In addition to the release of iOS 12.0.1, Apple this week also stopped signing iOS 11.4.1, a change that prevents downgrades to iOS 11. Further, the company release the third betas of iOS 12.1, watchOS 5.1, and tvOS 12.1.
A filmmaker this week compared the iPhone XS camera to a $10k cinema camera. The creator ended up being ‘shocked’ at how good the iPhone XS camera was at shooting video. Check out the comparison footage for yourself right here.
Last but not least, it was revealed this week that Apple secretly acquired photo cutout startup Spektral. The deal is said to have been completed in December of 2017 for over $30 million. Apple this week also committed $600 million to licensing power management from Dialog, and hired 300 engineers to develop more custom iPhone chips.
