The supposed gaming laptop is a quality device for business and work

When we first laid hands on the all-new ASUS ZenBook Pro UX550ve, we wondered to ourselves ”since when did Apple’s MacBook Pro come in a shimmering navy blue?” Similar to Apple’s MacBook laptops, this machine came in a complete aluminium casing with silver trimming on the edges, a fine touch to the overall appearance of this 1.8kg bad boy.

Compared to its predecessor, the ASUS ZenBook Pro UX501vw, this latest MacBook challenger definitely comes with a better build quality. The all-around rigidness of the machine assures users that they are not carrying around a play thing but a laptop ready to perform. This however, does not hide the fact that it is not perfect. There is still a fair bit of flex on the top panel and keyboard deck that may make you question the solidness of the product. Nonetheless, with a reasonable thin bezel and well crafted hinges, we are off to a pretty decent start.

For the ease of this review, let us jump into four things that makes the ASUS ZenBook Pro UX550ve a worthwhile consideration:

1. Quad Speaker with Harman Kardon Sound

Equipped with four speakers arranged in a 2 x 2-way set-up, the ASUS ZenBook Pro UX550ve sound system performs like a boss. With the top speakers taking charge of the high and midrange frequencies, the bottom two woofers provide a robust bass that ensures users to have a dynamic audio experience.

In addition, the audio system comes with the ASUS SonicMaster Premium technology that has been tuned by thw experts from ASUS and Harman Kardon. It’s the ideal stamp of approval that you are getting the very best experience for a playback of a variety of content – the rich depth at high volumes with a surround effect, unlike many other notebooks.

Overall, the ASUS ZenBook Pro UX550ve presents itself as a highly powerful machine that dishes out premium audio and visual playbacks. Despite moving ahead with the latest touchscreen technology to provide cuttingedge functionality, the team at ASUS very kindly kept sufficient I/O ports for the convenience of future users. Guaranteed to perform beyond expectations, the ASUS ZenBook Pro UX550ve is set to not disappoint, though the slightly steep entry price of $2898 may be a barrier to some.
