Albert Gallatin graduate Xavier Stephens earned a return trip to the NAIA Men’s Cross Country National Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Friday, Nov. 16.
The Point Park junior is one of 83 individual qualifiers announced by the NAIA.
Stephens earned his spot in the national meet as one of six individual qualifiers from the River States Conference. The top six finishers from the meet not on the conference champion WVU Tech squad.
Stephens finished second to WVU Tech’s Daniel Nehnevaj in the conference 8K final with a time of 26:37. Nehnevaj’s winning time was 26:20.
The Point Park women, led by NAIA All-American Anna Shields, earned a berth into the women’s championship.
Brownsville graduate Kara Rohlf, a senior, will also be running in the final after earning RSC all-conference honors for the Pioneers with a time of 19:29 in the 5K race.
