A technology called RapidSOS is partnering with Apple to pinpoint a user’s location more accurately while calling in an emergency.
Apple’s system currently uses technology that estimates a phone’s location with data from cell towers, GPS and wi-fi access points. Apple will integrate that tracking system with existing software at 911 dispatch centers.
iOS 12 will be released to iPhone users this fall. If you’re an Android use, Google is testing a similar system for their phones as well.
