Microsoft has made an effort in recent months to bring back highly requested features for Skype that were present on the old version of the app, and its latest efforts include a familiar notification setting. Rolling out now for Insiders, the app’s latest update brings the return of “contact online” notifications, which will alert you whenever a contact is available on Skype (via Neowin).
The setting is turned off by default, but you can quickly toggle it on and off by heading to the “Notifications” area of the settings menu. Just look for the “Contact comes online notification” toggle within settings, which is available just below the “Chat notifications” toggle. Once enabled, you’ll get an alert whenever a contact comes online, and clicking the notification will take you to a chat window with that contact.
This addition comes following other recent moves by Microsoft to bring back features from the old Skype app in addition to new enhancements. In December, the app received an update that brought back the “Away” presence, while newer additions like doubling the max number of group call participants and background blur for video calls have also made an appearance.
