LAS VEGAS – If you see people wearing bright green shirts Friday evening and Saturday, it could be because they’re volunteers on a mission to search for the missing children of southern Nevada.
The search being led by Nevada Child Seekers. Volunteers with the group will be taking different routes throughout the valley to try to hand out fliers in an effort to find missing children.
“This weekend we’re searching for 18 missing children, and we’ve already safely located two, so these efforts are working, and the public’s help is really invaluable,” said Margarita Edwards, Nevada Child Seekers.
Many missing children are labeled as runaways, but according to Edwards, that’s not always the case.
“The truth is we really don’t know, Edwards said. “Especially, with the internet; we don’t know if they were lured. We don’t know if somebody kidnaped them. We actually encountered cases where the predator forces them to write a letter saying that they’re running away, so we don’t really encourage that label because at the end of the day, it’s a child that’s missing and let the investigators figure out what the true details are. We’re just here to help bring them home.”
